THE HISTORY OF METALHEAD ELECTRONICS
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, brothers Elan and Remmie Memran operated MetalHead Electronics in North Hollywood, California.
At the time, guitar players were looking for more gain, more sustain, and a tighter sound from their Marshall amplifiers.
Elan Memran developed his own Marshall high-gain modifications, changing the preamp circuitry to produce powerful tube distortion directly from the amplifier.
Instead of depending on distortion pedals, guitar players could get the high-gain sound they wanted directly from their modified Marshall.

THE FEAR FACTORY CONNECTION
One of the best-known examples of Elan Memran’s work is the Marshall JCM800 2203 he modified for Dino Cazares of Fear Factory.
The amplifier featured Elan’s high-gain preamp modification and noise reduction circuitry.
That modified Marshall became part of Dino’s early Fear Factory recording setup and helped produce the aggressive high-gain sound associated with those recordings.
THE ORIGINAL MARSHALL HIGH-GAIN MODIFICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AGAIN
Elan Memran is once again offering his original MetalHead Electronics Marshall modifications.
These are the original modifications developed by Elan Memran, not copies or recreations by another company.
All modifications are personally performed by Elan Memran at MetalHead Electronics in Texas.
Customers can ship their Marshall amplifiers to MetalHead Electronics or arrange to bring them in personally.
ALSO AVAILABLE: THE EXTERNAL MARSHALL MODIFICATION
In addition to the original internal Marshall modifications, Elan Memran has developed a new removable external modification system.
The External MetalHead Electronics Marshall Mod connects through the amplifier’s preamp tube sockets using a model-specific adapter.
It brings the MetalHead Electronics high-gain approach to compatible Marshall amplifiers without requiring permanent changes to the original amplifier.
